The people who follow the religion Islam are called Muslims, Muslims fast during a month in the Islamic calendar and that is called Ramadan. I will be fasting this year, but only on the weekends and half terms not on school days because it will be a bit to much.

Muslims fast to teach themselves self discipline, self restrain, gratitude, humility and empathy. fasting reminds them of the suffering of the poor, who may rarely get to eat well. Fasting is basically not eating or drinking. It is common to have one meal (known as the suhoor), just before sunrise and another (known as the iftar), directly after sunset.Because Ramadan is a time to spend with friends and family, the fast will often be broken by different Muslim families coming together to share in an evening meal.
